The object of Jacks or Better video poker is to attain the highest ranked poker hand. The payoff for each hand is displayed on the video poker machine face.

Let’s Play Jacks or Better!

To play Jacks or Better:

  1. Select a coin value.
  2. Click the coin slot, Bet One or Bet Max.
    • Click the coin slot, up to five times, until the number of coins displayed equals the amount you wish to bet.
    • Click Bet One, up to five times, until the number of coins displayed equals the amount you wish to bet.
    • Click Bet Max once to bet the maximum amount allowed.
  1. To remove coins from the machine, you can click Cash Out to reset the bet prior to dealing cards.
  2. Click Deal and five cards appear face up on the screen.
  3. After the cards are dealt, you may choose to keep any of the cards by clicking Hold, found directly below the card, or by clicking directly on the card.
  4. After you have selected the cards you want to keep, click Deal and the remaining cards are exchanged for new cards.
    • After the second deal, your hand is assessed and winnings are paid out based on the rank of the resulting poker hand.

Jacks or Better Rules

Jacks or Better video poker uses a one deck shoe that is reshuffled after each hand.

The player places a bet before the cards are dealt and is allowed to replace cards once before the hand is assessed for winning conditions. Winnings are calculated automatically after replacement cards are dealt.

A pair of jacks is the lowest ranking poker hand that is considered a winning condition.

Jacks or Better Video Poker Hands

Jacks or Better video poker hands are valued based on the following five-card ranking.

Two Pairs Two sets of two cards of the same denomination and any fifth card.    
Pair of Jacks or Better A pair of jacks or other pairs with a ranking higher than a jack     

You Win!

A winning hand pays out according to the number of coins wagered and their value.

The following payout schedule illustrates the number of coins to be won if you bet 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 coins. The payout table is configurable and may differ from the default shown here.
